About Me

I am a pharmacy student attending Nova Southeastern University’s College of Pharmacy. After graduation, my goal is to go on to residency and, ultimately, work as a pediatric pharmacist in a clinical setting. As a dedicated, self-motivated team-player, I aim to fulfill my role in the healthcare team in providing quality patient-centered care. When I’m not working on my career goals, I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons, participating at my church, and practicing my piano skills.

August 2018 – Present
Nova Southeastern University – Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Class of 2022
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
GPA: 3.97/4.0
I am currently working through a curriculum designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to be a successful pharmacist. While completing the core curriculum, I also had elective courses and certification trainings to expand my experiences and skills, such as the NACDS Point-of-Care testing and pharmacy-based immunization certification.
January 2014 – December 2017
Florida International University – Miami, FL; Class of 2017
Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry
GPA: 3.92/4.0
Combining my passion for helping others and my love for chemistry and the sciences, I worked towards my B.A. in Chemistry degree with a pre-pharmacy tract. While completing my core degree classes, I used my elective credits to take all the necessary science classes needed for pharmacy school, including microbiology, biochemistry, and genetics. I was also involved in a pre-pharmacy student association where I attended meetings to gain more knowledge about the field and had opportunities to learn from pharmacists’ experiences.

January 2018 – August 2018
Alfa Vitamins Laboratories, Quality Control Chemist
The company manufactured vitamins and herbal supplements, including tablets, capsules, powders, creams, and beverages. As part of the internal quality control laboratory, I applied my chemistry knowledge and performed qualitative test on both the raw materials and finished products using instruments, such as a FTIR and HPLC, to ensure they were up to standard. I also assisted in quality assurance functions, ensuring our laboratory followed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). One of my favorite tasks was training our interns in quality testing while also sharing my advice and experiences to help them with their own career goals.
June 2014 – August 2014
Piano Instructor, Self-employed
With more than 8 years of piano lessons and experience, I began giving lessons to a couple of children to make some income while in college. I enjoyed the job because I love working with kids and watching their confidence grow as their skills improved. The most challenging part was learning how to prepare the proper curriculum to provide the most effective lessons within the time allotted.
February 2014 – December 2014
Primerica, Life Insurance Agent
The company was focused on using financial services and education to help families achieve their financial goals. I obtained my life insurance license and underwent training to build communication skills and customer service skills. I scheduled appointments to meet with clients and delivered presentations on how to better personal finances.
IPPE & APPE Rotations
IPPE: Community Pharmacy
Wal-Mart Pharmacy #4140
I had my Community IPPE experience at a neighborhood Walmart in a predominantly Hispanic area. Through my first pharmacy-work experience, I was able to learn the basic community skills such as inputting and filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and performing prescription transfers and verifications. My preceptor was passionate about her job and gave me a couple of assignments to maximize my learning, such as assessing patients’ immunization profiles and adding counseling reminders to those who were missing any.
IPPE: Health-System Pharmacy
Jackson Memorial Hospital
I had my Health-System IPPE experience at Jackson Memorial Hospital, a large public hospital with about 1,500 beds. My preceptor was very receptive to my interests and, due to my lack of experience, ensured I received exposure to many different areas. I was able to learn the work flow of the central pharmacy and shadowed in a majority of the decentralized pharmacies on the floors. I particularly enjoyed rounding with the pediatric pharmacist and her team, witnessing real-life interprofessional communication. I was also able to learn and perform various duties, such as delivery/filling of medications in Omnicells, recording medication histories in Cerner, and completing crash carts using KitCheck.
